Last year in September 2020, my incredible husband proposed to me and I said ‘yes’!
After some back and forth, we decided to get married in 2021, despite the Covid situation. Getting married abroad has always been a dream of ours, but we never thought it would come true.

Our country of choice, Greece, was quickly found. We associate a lot with Greece, love the people, the food and of course the stunning beaches.

Even as a professional event planner myself, I quickly reached my limits when planning our wedding on Crete. From my point of view, this is not possible from Germany, especially if you are not allowed to travel due to a pandemic.

After speaking to various wedding planners in Crete, we came across Maggie from Gamos Crete Weddings & Events. From the very first video call we were blown away by her enchanting manner. The other planners we spoke to before all assured us that our wishes and budget do not match and that we will have to cut back. Maggie was so positive. She was motivating and made us feel that she knew exactly what we wanted and that there was a way to make it happen. After the call we were sure: “She is the right one!”

We have not regretted the decision for a minute. Maggie was always there for us, gave us great advice in all areas and also brought in her own ideas. We had a quite specific vision of our wedding and together with Maggie, we found a way to fulfill all our wishes.

So, what can we say in conclusion? “WOW! This was a movie wedding! You met and exceeded our expectations to the fullest. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your excellent planning and realization of our wedding.

Your positive, cheerful manner and your professional appearance, especially in these difficult Corona times, convinced us immediately.

Without you we would never have found this breathtaking Villa. The DJ rocked, The Celebrant gave a wonderful ceremony for us and our loved ones and the Catering provided an authentic delicious meal. The florist blew us away with her creations, the bar mixed great cocktails and our wonderful Photography couple HannaMonika captured all the memories beautifully.

Late summer fête

We created an exceptional concept with autumnal inspiration for our styled wedding in Crete.
We wanted to harmonize with the romance and magic of this picturesque historic estate, so we went with a special late summer fête theme and featured all things ethereal, earthly, and exquisite.
The estate’s worn and frayed walls were timeless and effortlessly captivating – and they made for a whimsical statement backdrop for the day’s alfresco events as well. We couldn’t have found a more beautiful and charming backdrop than this venue steeped in history to fit our styled wedding.
A historic 14th-century estate on the dream isle of Crete was the utterly romantic setting for this late summer wedding inspiration.
This shoot encompasses the autumn aesthetic with a dreamy array of florals, cakes, and macramé.

To make the most of the idyllic setting, we adorned it with details that would make any bride’s heart swoon. We draped the door, the window, and the dining table with whimsical autumnal-hued blooms and cascading foliage. We wanted the floral arrangements to use a special combination of seasonal blooms so that it felt like walking through a lush garden in fall – and that’s why we handpicked the embellishing pampas grass, fresh eucalyptus, dainty hydrangeas, classic roses, exotic orchids, chic anthurium, and pretty astilbe. As you might expect, this radiant floral arrangement set the scene for some pretty impressive ceremony photos. The light wooden charming chairs radiated a perfectly vintage but still chic look like they have always been there.

Creating that autumn feel

What better way to deck out a 14th-century venue than by using Macramé – an art form of Arabic weavers that dates back to the 13th century. We embellished the façade of the estate with these pretty crochet details to bring the extra ‘wow’ factor to the ceremony décor.
Finally, to accentuate the seasonal theme and lend the venue a relaxed, warm, and welcoming look, we turned to the ever-popular fall décor ingredient – pumpkin. Paired with The stunning little wooden table with a lovely floral arrangement, pomegranates and a small wedding cake on top, it really played up the autumnal aesthetic without overshadowing the set-up.

Our wedding was everything we hoped for. We researched a lot on the internet to find a planner to suit us and we had immediately a warm and enthusiastic feeling with Margreet, the owner and planner of Gamos Crete Weddings & Events.

I am from the UK and my husband from Poland and we married civil which was amazingly organized by Margreet according to the documents and appointments with the Town Hall. We married at a lovely dream chapel at a rustic venue and it was so idyllic and cozy and perfectly decorated just as we imagined. Her guidance was warm and we always felt safe in her hands.

Our guests were very impressed by the florals and the food, but also the presence of Margreet and her attention to everybody. So happy we choose Irini Koronaki as our photographer who captured our special moments perfectly and couldn’t be happier with the result. Thanks to Margreet we got to know her.

Margreet knows very well what she is doing and has an amazing dedicated team. From our arrival towards our departure Margreet was next to us and took care of all tiny details which we never even thought of.

An unforgettable fairy tale wedding, all thanks to Gamos Crete!

When we decided to get married in Crete we were looking for a wedding planner. Soon we came across Gamos Crete with many examples of beautiful weddings. After our first contact with Margreet we were immediately convinced that she would do everything for us to make our wedding day absolutely perfect.

For 1,5 year we have been busy planning our wedding with Margreet. We had a clear picture of how the wedding should look like, but Margreet also came with many beautiful and helpful ideas. She always thought along, gave us an overview of cost and options but most importantly she gave an overview on the choices we had made and the matters that still had to be settled. Nothing was to crazy and everything was possible. Fireworks, Greek dancers, a vintage wedding car, the cake, a table full of candy, video and photographer and so on, she arranged everything perfectly!
During the day, but even at night, Margreet was always there for us. During the wedding planning process we could give her a call at any moment and she would make sure that we were reassured and that everything was going as planned (which was always the case because she was so involved with everything).

On the wedding day we were a little bit nervous if everything we had planned for the past 1,5 year would be as we imagined. As being a bride and groom you are busy with yourselves during the preparations, so nothing you can see before it starts.
Gamos Crete arranged everything perfectly into detail. We had two different locations and both locations were absolutely perfectly decorated and organised. They couldn’t have done a better job.
The wedding day Margreet made sure that we had nothing to worry about. We trusted here completely with everything because she was so involved in the past 1,5 year. Everything was according to plan, actually, everything was even better than we could have imagined! She took such good care of us and our guests. They loved Margreet as well!

It was the most beautiful day of our lives. It was like a fairy tale with all our closest friends and family. Through every step of the way Margreet made sure to have no doubt that is was going to be the best wedding ever! Without her we couldn’t have done it.

Where to begin to review our amazing wedding. First of all we want to thank you Gamos Crete, Margreet for your wonderful effort and standing by us each and every time.

Margreet and her team was the best we could ever wish for. We are from Sweden and wanted somebody to take over everything so the main thing was to focus on ourselves. We absolutely could leave it all up to Gamos Crete’s team. Margreet came up with so many ideas that we never even thought of. From the moment we met her, she understood what we wanted and arranged in one click all the suppliers. We told her ‘please arrange everything’ since we absolutely don’t know where to start. She stood next to us and helped us with every step we had to take. The exact florals I had in mind, the little church to be sweet and pretty, cosy atmosphere, a beautiful Cretan traditional hotel for our honeymoon night – up to the intimate venue to hold our wedding dinner.

We will never forget the time you arrived to our house in Crete and introduced yourself. Me and my best friend Renee looked at each other and knew you were the ‘one’ to arrange our wedding.
I remember I told you the colours I like and you finished into completion with suggesting what would be nice to do. Back in Sweden I told Darius about you and that I was so happy to be able to leave it all up to you. On the day of the wedding you were everywhere. In the hotel, the venue, the church, you even brought the hair stylist personally and delivered our rings to Darius home for the pictures which we forgot. You really know how to handle all these little details. I felt like a queen and our family and friends were so impressed by your professionalism. We all still have our personal agate stones with our calligraphy names.

Next to the fact you are such a warm person which a huge interest in people, you arranged our wedding day into a true fairy tale which was beyond our expectations. As we have said: you were not only our wedding planner, but you became our friend. Our wedding was the most beautiful day of our lives, thanks to you!!!

We would highly recommend Gamos Crete weddings – they helped put together our dream wedding in September 2018 that exceeded all our expectations in every way.

Our planner Margreet Riemeijer was amazing taking care of every single detail in the planning of the wedding and personally coordinating the entire day making sure that the bride & groom an all the guests had the best possible experience. From the moment Margreet agreed to be our wedding planner she started planning every detail and things moved forward quickly including all the things we had not even considered.

She was always available day and night whenever we needed anything or had any questions, she was easy to work with an always enthusiastic whilst taking away all our stresses and worries. As well as exceptional organizational skills and a lot of experience she also has a great sense of humor which is also important if you will be working with someone for a long time.

We decided on the locations one year before we got married when we were in Crete but then leading up to the Wedding we were only able to come to Crete a week before so we needed to put all our trust in Gamos Crete Weddings. They coordinated everything with the two separate venues for the Wedding and Reception plus all the different vendors and local suppliers. We had a very International Wedding with guests from all over the World – Margreet is fluent in English, Dutch and Greek and can most definitely handle an International Wedding.

Gamos Crete Weddings also come with many recommended vendors and suppliers they work with regularly and we fully endorse all the choices Margreet suggested for us – we were always given plenty of information in advance and it was made as easy as possible to see examples of past Weddings to help guide our choices. We did not feel pressure to go with any of the recommendations either – we always had the final decision.

The wedding celebrant – Henk Bekker – was recommended by Gamos and we felt very lucky to have him. Like Margreet, he spoke perfect English and Dutch. He took a lot of time to get to know us before the Wedding and spent a lot of time with us and our guests before the ceremony so it was a very personal experience for us and our families.

In the end our wedding was something straight from the movies, we and all of our guests were so happy and thoroughly impressed from start to finish.

My husband and I got married in Crete and we used the services of Gamos Crete, owned by Margreet Riemeijer. Planning our wedding in Chania, Crete was made incredibly simple by her. Margreet was on hand night and day to answer our questions and to share pictures and ideas for the big day.

First of all Margreet had many contacts with vendors and if something was out of our price range she would either negotiate or look elsewhere. Second of all, I researched wedding planners before I came across Gamos Crete. I always felt as though I was one and only bride Margreet was working with.

We felt confident in booking our wedding venue (Manousakis winery) based on her recommendations and were non disappointed.

We went to visit the venue a few months before the wedding and Margreet had organised for all of the vendors to be there (lighting, flowers, catering, photographer, DJ etc.) which meant we could decide on all of the key features and visualise how the wedding would be ahead of time which really put our mind at ease given that we were miles away back in the UK.

The feedback from the guests on the day has been amazing, everyone had the time of their lives. The venue had been decorated beautifully by Margreet and the team using decorations she had sourced based on our requirements. It was a true fairy tale.

There must also be a special mention for Henk Bekker, the Celebrant who carried out our wedding ceremony. The guests loved the personal touch of the stories he told and the relaxed atmosphere of the whole day.

Margreet stayed behind the scenes but always near in case of any questions or problems. She was busy coordinating music, food, photography etc. to ensure a seamless day.

If anyone is planning on getting married in Crete you will not go wrong with hiring Gamos Crete!

We hereby first like to thank Gamos Crete for our perfect wedding in Crete.
We had such a special and nice day.

I like to say than we started on year before the wedding to first meet 2 other wedding planners an Margreet to make a good comparison. At the end we decided to go with Margreet (Gamos Crete) as we very liked her hands on mentality and pricing was good.

Our second meeting with her was even better as we had opportunity to fine tune all the details of our wedding (wine, catering, meet the DJ, meet the hair stylist and makeup artist and to see the locations). We learned that Margreet had a good partner network in Crete and that the communication was easy with her vendors.

The day itself was fantastic. We married at Kalathas, which is a very nice beach. Our photographer was Hanna Monika and the videographer Vasilis Tsagkarakis from Heraklion. Henk Bekker leaded our ceremony which was very personal. After the beach wedding we had the diner and party at Ktyma Reveli, which is a fantastic spot to celebrate your wedding! Stunning sea view and a very luxury atmosphere. Stelios was the DJ and he made a very special evening for us.

At 2 am we asked Margreet to extend the party till 3 am which she arranged immediately. A perfect flexibility of both the wedding planner and the venue. All together it was a fantastic day. Thank you Margreet, Gamos Crete for all your effort

We are so glad we chose to organise our wedding using Gamos Crete and we would definitely recommend them to anyone planning their wedding.

They took away all the stress and gave us the most incredible day, far more wonderful than we ever would have managed ourselves. We came across the company through an internet search for wedding planners in Crete and from our first skype session with our planner, Margreet, about 18 months before the wedding, we knew that Gamos Crete was absolutely the right company to trust with our wedding day.

We went over to Crete to look for a venue in April 2017 and during this time Margreet spend a whole day with us, showing locations an suggesting ideas. She made a big effort to get to know us as a couple so she could really tailor the ideal wedding for us. She helped us find our perfect location and helped us look to the surrounding area for places for our guests to stay. From then on, we were in contact with Margreet a lot, as she started planning every little detail for us and asking our opinion on things.

Once we moved in to 2018 the communication really picked up and I (bride) was in contact with Margreet daily. Nothing was too much trouble and she was always enthusiastic and positive about any new ideas. She also reminded me of so many things that I never would have thought of without her. I think that by the end she understood what I wanted more than I did!
We went out to Crete for the week before the wedding and we met with Margreet twice in the lead up. Again- she was so positive, helpful and I knew I could ask her for anything and she would sort it for me.

The days before the wedding were calm and worry-free as we knew she was doing a fantastic job! On the day of the wedding, Margreet was rushing around delivering our flowers (absolutely beautiful bouquet, the most vibrantly coloured flowers I have seen) and making sure everyone was ok before heading to the venue to set everything up. She was with us for the whole day managing everything, ordering taxis, overseeing timings etc. She really worked so hard!!

It was flawless, we and all of our guests were so happy and thoroughly impressed by the whole thing! Planning a wedding abroad seemed like such a scary thing at first but doing this with Gamos Crete was absolutely the best thing we possibly could have done. There were some big ‘unknowns’ right up until the day- what will the flowers be like? How will the cake be? But everything went far beyond our expectations.

The wedding…
We got married on Marathi beach. The wedding celebrant – Henk Bekker – was recommended by Gamos Crete and was brilliant. Like Margreet, he spoke perfect English. He made the ceremony personal but light hearted and everybody commented on how much they enjoyed his delivery. He persuaded us to write our own vows which we were unsure about at first but I’m glad we did- he read them for us and kept it in the slightly silly style we’d wanted. He had also met with us during the week to get to know us and make sure he pitched it right for us.

We then had the reception at Loukoulos restaurant. I also can not recommend this place enough!!! They had so many staff that none of the 77 guests ever had an empty glass! You never had to wait for anything at all and they were so happy to help. The staff were friendly, fun, polite and attentive and again, everybody commented on how great they were. The food at Loukoulos was ridiculously good. There was so much of it, but every plate that came out was simply wonderful!

Many people said that they had never had such good food at a wedding and it was the best food that they have had in Greece. The DJ was really good too (he played saxophone earlier on for guests as they arrived!) and the Greek dancing made it even more of a night to remember.

Thanks to Margreet and her team, Henk, Valentino at Loukoulos and all of the staff there, we had the most perfect wedding day imaginable. We are so grateful and really would encourage anyone getting married in Crete to use this wonderful company!!
Margreet, we hope we get to meet you again one day, our happiest memories are because of you!
